To the editor:
We want to say thank you to the veterans for their service, and Merry Christmas.
Argonne Post 33 and Auxililary Unit 33 had their 21st-annual Christmas luncheon on Dec. 11 at the post hall. Sixty veterans from Catherine's Care Center, Bolger's Country Club Manor, Sienna Skilled Nursing and Rehabiltation, Belmont Manor, Villa Royale, Villa Vista, Carriage Inn of Steubenville, Gables Care Center, Carriage Inn of Cadiz, Country Club Manor and the Laurels arrived in vans, along with the owners of the nursing homes, activity directors, nurses and drivers.
Mayor Domenick Mucci gave a welcome and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Peg DalBenzio, auxiliary chaplain, said the blessing. Santa Claus and Mucci passed out certificates of appreciation to all the veterans. Veterans also were presented with gift bags that were filled with numerous items that were purchased with money donated by local merchants, including DiAnniballe and Co., Barium and Chemicals Inc., Shorac Funeral Homes, Mosti Funeral Home, TEAM Ford, Wal-Mart Super Center, Wheeler Funeral Home, Lancia Villa Royale, Villa Royale, Villa Vista, Bolger Country Club Manor and Sons of the American Legion. Many Auxiliary members and Legionnaires helped with the planning, cooking and baking and helped with getting the veterans in and out of the building.
Thanks also to the Herald-Star and Lou Tripodi of Steubenville Bakery.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the local veterans for their dedicated service and for keeping our nation free, proud and strong. God bless them all.
