Weirton pair face theft charges

STEUBENVILLE - Christopher M. Flati, 28, and Kara D. Richmond, 26, both of 151 Church St., Weirton, were arrested Saturday on theft charges after an alleged incident at Sears in the Fort Steuben Mall.

Police allege the pair filled shopping bags with clothing and other items from the store and then returned them for cash.

Richmond, who originally gave police a fictitious name, was charged with obstruction, petit theft and falsification, and was served with an outstanding bench warrant as well. Flati was charged with petit theft.

Harassing phone calls received

STEUBENVILLE - The parent of a Steubenville High School football player complained of receiving harassing phone calls after identifying information posted on the Roll Red Roll website falsely claimed he had been involved in a controversial rape alleged to have happened in August.

Since the information was posted, the report said the family received numerous harassing phone calls, with people ordering pizza in their name.

The website had reportedly been hijacked over the weekend.
