I'm devoting today's space to as many photos as I could possibly cram on here - ones I took at Steubenville's Eastern Gateway Community College Christmas parade held on Dec. 8.
It was a great parade to watch with terrific participation, both in the units marching and the people watching.
Sponsoring this year's event in addition to EGCC were the Steubenville Visitors Bureau, Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce and WTOV with help from the Franciscan University of Steubenville and the Steubenville Lions Club.
The event committee included Judy Bratten, Sue Hershey, Ann Koon, Anita Jackson, Cathy Davison, Domenick Mucci, Mark Nelson, Rikki Kamarados, Jerry Barilla, Mary Snyder and Tim McCoy.
There were close to 90 units in the parade so there was a lot to see, and the weather cooperated, thank goodness.
Rich Donnelly of Steubenville, who has had a career in professional baseball that has spanned more than 40 years, including a stint as a coach with the Pittsburgh Pirates, is someone I got a chance to meet afterwards as reporter Dave Gossett and I were heading back to our cars as was Donnelly and his wife, Roberta, who is a horse person I discovered during a brief conversation. Neat!
Naturally, I took a parade photo of the guy standing atop two horses as he made his way down Fourth Street with ease. Wonder if I could do that.
And at the end of the parade was a horse-drawn carriage in which Laura Meeks, president of EGGC, was traveling.
I'm glad I made a point of going. Very nice.
By the way, Merry Christmas!
