STEUBENVILLE - The final meeting of the year for the city school board centered on personnel issues and plans for the January re-organizational meeting.
During the 25-minute meeting held at Steubenville High School, the board approved seven substitute teachers for the current school year, including Carey Atlas, Amy Clark, Cody Ching, Alex DiPietro, Kayla Pool, Joseph Rankin and Alexis Tonacchio.
The board also accepted Brittany Falbo's resignation as girls head soccer coach and approved maternity leave for Falbo, who is a science teacher at the high school.
Maternity leave also was approved for Heather Davis, who is a teacher at Wells Academy.
In other personnel moves, Kirsten Curran was hired as a lifeguard for the high school natatorium, and Alexis Carroll, Joseph DuBois and Angelica Yetts were approved as cafeteria workers.
Superintendent Mike McVey reported the city school district has received $1,000 from the Wal-Mart Foundation and an additional $1,000 donation from Wheeling-Nisshin.
The board also approved unanimously:
Membership in the Ohio Minority Recruitment Consortium for 2013.
Membership in the Ohio School Boards Association Legal Assistance Fund for 2013.
A parental transportation contract for Jennifer Moses.
A salary adjustment for Stephanie Patterson.
A memorandum of agreement for YouthWorks Inc. volunteers to use the shower facilities at the high school during the 2013 summer; and authorization to apply for Impact Aid, a federal fiscal assistance fund.
The board also set the annual reorganizational meeting for 6 p.m. on Jan. 9 at the board offices at the former McKinley School.
