MAINS, David E., 62, of Rayland, OH, passed away suddenly Saturday, December 15, 2012, at home.
He was born January 3, 1950, in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late David E. and Judith M. (Dunn) Mains, Sr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Mains.
David served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He retired in 2001 from the operations department at the Ohio Edison Sammis Plant, where he worked for 22 years. He enjoyed playing cards and watching movies, and before his illness he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Dave loved his sons and grandchildren, nothing meant more to him than his family.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy (Eastham) Mains, whom he married December 7, 1973; two sons, David E. Mains, III of Mingo Junction and Dale Mains of Rayland; three grandchildren, Private First Class Logan Mains, David Mains, IV and Brooke Mains; a brother, Jeffrey Mains of Thailand; two sisters, Melinda (Jerry) Daugherty of Wheeling, WV and Melissa (Jim) Ramsey of Corpus Christi, TX; and his extended family of six brother and sister-in-laws, Eleanor (Richmond) Polito, Robert Eugene Eastham, William (Frostie) Eastham, Debra (Chuck) Snider, Roger (Samantha) Eastham and Linda (Daniel) McCain.
Friends will be received on Monday from 6-8 and also on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, where his funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Roger Wayne, officiating. Interment with military honors by Dillonvale American Legion Post 529 will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Colerain, OH.
