STANKO, Mr. Andrew "Andy," 88,of Graham, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at 9:20 a.m.
A native of Steubenville, OH, he was the husband of Luella Riddle Stanko, who survives and the son of Andy and Anna Stanko, both deceased.
Andy was a graduate of "Big Red" High School and Ohio University. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during World War II in Europe and participated in the battles in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He retired as an Industrial Engineer at Weirton Steel Company. He was a member of the Graham Presbyterian Church and the Brotherhood Class. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 63.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include two sisters, Anna Mae Livingston of Levittown, PA and Betty Lenz of Ocala, FL; and many loved nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 1 p.m. by Rev. Steve Braswell with the family receiving friends from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park with military honors. Other times, they will be at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
