December 15, 2012
The Herald-Star

We would like to congratulate the Brooke High School cheerleaders for not only bringing home their 13th state championship, but also establishing a new state record with that win.

It takes a great deal of time, hard work and dedication for any athlete to reach the pinnacle of competition in their sport, and these young ladies have consistently made it to the top.

They should be proud of this latest accomplishment, and we applaud them for bringing honor and recognition to their school and county.

The Brooke High School cheerleaders have set a standard of excellence over the years, with sqauds regularly achieving high recognition over much of the last 20 years.

With this 13th state victory, these student athletes have continued a winning tradition while firmly establishing themselves as the best of the best in the state of West Virginia.

This year's squad includes captains Elizabeth Fernandez, Haley Bowman, Teirria Duffy, Emily Hosler, Alex Sperlazza and Katie Nunley; Danielle Johnson, Casondra Camilletti, Alexandra Velegol, Aubrie Reynolds, Holly Davis, Brooke Clark, Abbi Yachini, Makayla Moore, Marin Rogers, Sydney Gambellin, Nicole Himmelrick, Lauren Fritz, Kelly Schambach and Caitlin Cuomo.

It is coached by Melissa Michaux, with assistant coaches Michelle Scherich and Christine Stucin.

We, once again, congratulate the Brooke High cheerleaders on their most recent championship and wish them all continued success.
