Christmas light contest scheduled
STEUBENVILLE - Mayor Domenick Mucci announced today the judging for the annual city Christmas lights contest will be held Sunday and Dec. 17.
"We are asking all participating residents to keep their holiday lights on from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. on those two days so judges can view the displays. The winners will be notified," said Mucci.
Health department announces schedule
STEUBENVILLE - The Jefferson County Health Department will offer immunizations, flu shots and tuberculosis testing from 9 until 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

County PERI Chapter 5 to meet
WINTERSVILLE - Jefferson County's Public Employee Retirees Chapter 5 will meet at noon Wednesday at Zalenski's restaurant.
The program will be provided by members, including a social time with Christmas cookies.
Cadiz man charged with drug possession
CADIZ - Village Police arrested a man Sunday after a routine traffic stop on Jamison Avenue.
Officers said Charles Hython had marijuana, a scale and three Percocet pills in his car. Following his arrest, Hython turned over about 50 other pills. Police said Hython admitted he planned to sell the drugs.
According to officers, Hython faces a charge of possession with the intent to deliver. He also was driving with a suspended license and was taken to the Harrison County Jail.
The Cadiz K-9 unit was called and the dog searched the vehicle, finding the marijuana and Percocet pills.
Harrison coal park calendars available
CADIZ - The 2013 Harrison Coal and Reclamation Historical Park calendars are available.
Each costs $10, and those ordering by mail must include another $2 for postage and handling.
All photos are black and white and feature the early 1940s and '50s shovels first put into use in Harrison County by the Hanna Coal Co.
Consolidation Coal Co. is sponsoring the calendar.
