BEVERIDGE, John W. (Jack), 90, of New Port Richey, FL, formerly of Wintersville, OH, passed away Friday, November 30, 2012, at Fairview Hospital (Cleveland, OH).
He was born in Adena, OH and had lived in New Port Richey since 1987.
Jack served in the Army Air Corp from November 1940 until May 1945 and was stationed in Panama and India.
He retired in 1984 after working for 21 years as a Nationwide Insurance agent. He was a member of Starkdale Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder. He also served on the board of Jefferson Technical College.
An avid golfer, he was a member of Cadiz Country Club. A 1981 Wintersville Citizen of the Year, Jack was also active in Farm Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, and Lions Club as well as Masonic Lodge Unionport F&AM, Scottish Rite, and Aladdin Shriners.
Jack is survived by daughter, Nancy Lupo (John) of Avon Lake; and son, Jack Beveridge (Kim) of Centreville, VA.; six grandchildren, Jana, Cathy, Michelle, John, Jamie, and Josh; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Dorothy Simmons, Patricia Barbai, Barbara Beveridge, and Sandy Mayerchak; and brothers, Thomas and James.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Alberta (nee Anthony); parents, John R. and Margaret (nee Whitten); and sisters, Margaret Fleming and Mary Alice Heaston.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 4, at Starkdale Presbyterian Church, 4600 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville at noon with Rev. Dr. Philip Makari officiating.
Internment will be private in Ft. Steuben Burial Estates.
