County elections board certifies results

STEUBENVILLE - The Jefferson County Board of Elections on Tuesday certified the results of the Nov. 6 general election.

Diane Gribble, county board of elections director, said 700 provisional ballots and 52 absentee ballots received by mail after Nov. 6 were included in the certified results.

None of the outcomes of any of the races or levies and issues changed, she said.

Gribble said the board of elections will now begin preparing for the Feb. 5 special election, which will feature a 9.45-mill operating levy for the Edison Local School District. Gribble said the district will have to pay $900 for each of the 21 precincts in Jefferson County which will be open for the special election.

Buckeye Local work session to be held

DILLONVALE - The Buckeye Local Board of Education will hold a work session at 5 p.m. Dec. 17 at the administrative office in Dillonvale. The purpose of the work session is to establish district vision and mission statements, goals and a review of job descriptions.

The regular meeting of the Buckeye Local board of education will be at 6 p.m. the same day at the administrative office.

Adena plans Christmas parade

ADENA - A Christmas parade will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 9 with a 4:15 p.m. line-up on Hanna Ave. Organizers are encouraging floats, decorated vehicles or marching units to take part. Call (740) 546-3946 for more information or to take part in the parade. There will be a $50 first-place float prize awarded.

The celebration will continue at the Community Center, where children can enjoy a visit from Santa.
