The United Way of Jefferson County held its second-annual web-a-thon Thursday evening. Volunteers gathered pledges from area residents and viewers of the Internet-only telecast, which originated from the newsroom of the Herald-Star. The two-hour event raised $5,275 in pledges toward this year’s campaign goal of $440,000.
