Vehicle windows damaged on road

STEUBENVILLE - The drivers of two vehicles reported hearing loud bangs and then windows on their vehicles shattered around 6:50 a.m. Wednesday on Sinclair Avenue, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department reported.

One driver said she had turned from John Scott Highway and was about 60 yards east on Sinclair Avenue when she heard a loud bang. She told a deputy she looked in her mirror and noticed a hole in the window. The window then shattered.

A second driver reported a similar story.

Steubenville Police officers and deputies searched the area for a person, possibly armed with a firearm or BB gun, but nobody was located.

Dedication programs still available

WELLSBURG - Those who didn't receive a program for the dedication of the Brooke County Veterans Memorial Park on Sunday may obtain one at the clubhouse at Brooke Hills Park, where the memorial park is located.

The clubhouse is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Tree to recognize service members

CHARLESTON - Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and first lady Joanne Jaeger Tomblin invite all West Virginians to honor servicemen and women by contributing photos for the military recognition tree in the governor's reception room at the State Capitol Building during the holiday season.

Those wishing to participate are asked to send photos of loved ones or friends who have served or are serving in the military online at and click on the military recognition Tree icon or send to: Military Recognition Tree, Attn: Glenn Reed, Director of Operations; 1716 Kanawha Blvd. E, Charleston, WV 26305.

All photos and information should be submitted no later than Nov. 23, and photos won't be returned.

Television news host to speak

WEST LIBERTY - Chris Stirewalt, host of Fox News' Power Play, will offer his post-election outlook at Wednesday's meeting of the West Liberty University Economics Club. The meeting will be held at noon at River City, 1400 Main St.

The club is sponsored by the university's Center for Economic Philosophy.
