THOMPSON, Mary Evelyn Riddle Thompson, 95, of Irvine, CA, a former longtime resident of Toronto, OH, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2012, at the Cameo Assisted Living Homes in Irvine, CA.
She was born May 4, 1917, in Toronto, OH, the daughter of the late Orville and Margaret Jeffrey Riddle.
Mary Evelyn was a member of the Toronto First Presbyterian Church, the Three Arts Club of Toronto and the Toronto Retired Teachers Association. She was a 1934 graduate of Toronto High School; a graduate of Kent State University; and retired as a teacher at the Delaware County, Ohio public school system.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles E. Thompson in 2001, whom she married June 1, 1947; sister, June Riddle McConnell in 2004; brothers, Austin Riddle in 2005, and Ray Riddle in 2007.
Mary Evelyn is survived by daughters, Susan M. Thompson of Bainbridge Island, WA, and Katherine J. and husband, Alex Kaplan, of Irvine, CA; grandsons, Quinlan and Wesley Corbett; granddaughters, Lilliana and Rebecca Kaplan.
Mary Evelyn's visitation hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m.. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto.
A celebration service of Mary Evelyn's life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, at the funeral home with the Reverend Michael Bongart officiating. Burial will follow at the Island Creek Cemetery, Church Road, Toronto.
