BLANCHARD, Evelyn V., 91, of Unionport, OH, died Sunday morning October 28. 2012, in Trinity West.
She was born on December 18, 1920, the daughter of the late Kenton and Cora Bowman Greaver in Wellsburg, WV.
Evelyn was a graduate of the Wellsburg High School Class of 1937. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William (Spud) Greaver.
Evelyn worked for the Unionport U.S. Post office and Red Oaks Country Club. During the World War II time she supported the effort by working in a local steel mill. In her youth she enjoyed big band music and attended many shows.
Evelyn was a member of the Christian Church in Unionport, Ohio, Unionport Aux. 45. She enjoyed her flowers and gardening and watching the birds. She was known for her quick wit and sense of humor.
Evelyn is survived by a son, Charles (Dodie) Blanchard of Hopedale; two daughters, Karen (Donnel) Trimmer of Unionport, Shelly Blanchard of Martinsburg, WV.; grandchildren, Michelle (Rusty) Johnson of Carrollton, Justin and Jake Blanchard of Hopedale, two great grand children, Nicholas and Richard Johnson of Carrollton.
Friends may call at the Blackburn Funeral Home at 324 High St., Hopedale, on Tuesday October 30, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with services there on Wednesday October 31 at 11 a.m. The Unionport Aux. 45 will have services at 6 p.m. on Tuesday October 30. Pastor Hubert Granger will officiate. Burial will follow in the Unionport Cemetery.
