WAJDA, Edward John, 74, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2012, in the Weirton Geriatric Center.
Born May 25, 1938 in Weirton, he was the son of the late John and Laura Sudol Wajda. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Caitlyn Wajda.
With over 43 years of service, Mr. Wajda retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a recorder in the Hot Mill. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church and the WSX 25-Year Club. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Mr. Wajda is survived by his wife, Carol Burkle Wajda of Weirton, whom he married April 27, 1963; sons, Jeff Wajda and his wife, Sheila of Bloomingdale, OH, Scott Wajda and his wife, Diana of Mandeville, LA and Steve Wajda and his wife, Kim of Oviedo, FL; daughter, Stacy Amaismeier and her husband, Joe of Hopedale, OH; brother Paul Vida of Weirton; sisters, Wanda Williams of Follansbee, WV, Irene Richards, Janet Bryant, both of Weirton and Antonette Carozza of Columbus, OH; and grandchildren, Olivia, Will, Zach, Grant, Alleigh, Chase, Leah and Ellah.
The visitation celebration will be Sunday 1-3 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton.
