MILLS, Phyllis Maree Jones, 78, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 18, 2012, at Beacon Place Hospice House in Greensboro, NC, with her two daughters Vicki Jo and Lisa by her side.

She was born October 27, 1933, in Brilliant, Ohio, a daughter of the late Mary L. Springer and Edward J. Jones.

She was a graduate of the former Steubenville Business College. Phyllis was an executive secretary at various companies, working at Tri-State Electric Company for over 15 years. She was past president of Garfield Elementary PTA and was very involved in her daughters' activities throughout her life. She was a very active member at the former Alikanna United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher, was in the Womens Society and a member of the church council. After the Alikanna church closed she became a member of Bell Chapel United Methodist Church and she also attended the Brilliant United Methodist Church.

Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her sister and best friend, Frances Jean Cunningham. She also enjoyed visiting with her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Phyllis had a special place in her heart for her two daughters and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Joseph W. Mills, whom passed away April 9, 2001; her stepmother, Mary Molnar Jones; and her sister, Frances Jean Cunningham.

Surviving are two daughters, Vicki Jo (Tom) Cole of Cadiz, Ohio and Lisa (David) Leasure of Browns Summit, NC; a brother-in-law, Howard (Barbara) Cunningham of Brilliant; a granddaughter, Sara Leasure and a grandson, Benjamin "Benny" Leasure; four nieces, four nephews, 10 great-nieces and seven great-nephews.

Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Steve Modranski, officiating.
