Dons take care of business

FAIRMONT - The Madonna football team had five players score seven touchdowns in a 49-12 romp over host Clarksburg Notre Dame Friday at Fairmont State University.

The bookend touchdowns were scored on interception returns.

Anthony Antinone was the first with a 101-yard return for a 7-0 lead after Matthew Green's extra point and Elliott Nero went 85 after his theft and, with Green's kick, closed the scoring.

In between, the Blue Dons racked up 431 yard of offense and prepare for next week's showdown with Steubenville Catholic Central at Harding Stadium.

Junior quarterback Ross Comis scored on runs of 17 and 9 yards and threw a 37-yard scoring strike to Garrett Hypes.

Nick Ossman added a 10-yard score and Nero went in from the 1.

Madonna ran the ball 44 times for 306 yards with Ossman leading the way with 97 yards on 13 carries and Comis adding 93 on 12 rushes.

Comis was also 5-of-6 for 125 yards throught the air. Nero and Hypes each caught a pair from Comis with collecting 63 stripes and Hypes traveling 55 yards.

The Blue Dons collected 20 first downs and didn't turn the ball over in the win.
