Family a part of community

The Herald-Star

To the editor:

This letter is to express my sincere endorsement of Billy Petrella for Jefferson County commissioner.

His parents have recently retired from the United States Postal Service and there was a write-up on the front page of the paper, letters to the editor and an editorial describing the great service his mother, Anita Petrella (the Steubenville-Wintersville postmaster), and his father, Craig Petrella (the Mingo Junction postmaster), gave to the community.

Craig and Anita Petrella have instilled their sense of service into all of their sons, including their son Billy. They retired from the postal service with pure white records, celebrated careers and what I know they consider the most important - hundreds, if not thousands of postal service friends who are more like family than they were co-workers. For these two individuals to have worked for a government agency and have lifelong friends is unique in today's work environment.

The Petrellas have been in our community for decades, owning numerous businesses and being involved in several nonprofit organizations and youth programs. Billy cares about Jefferson County and, most important, Billy cares about people.
