TORONTO - The Toronto Band Parents are set to host a dinner/auction from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 12.
Tickets to the event are $10 each and available through pre-sale only. The ticket includes a buffet-style dinner served at 6 p.m. and a bidding paddle for the live auction scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. There are more than 70 items available for the live auction, while a silent auction will include 15 items, according to Maureen Taggart, district communications coordinator and high school principal.
"The evening also will include several quick prize drawings, which will be announced throughout the live auction," she said. "Items to be auctioned include gift baskets, tickets to sporting events, museum tickets, tickets to cultural events, gift certificates, autographed books, autographed sport memorabilia, crafts, Toronto High School winter athletic sports passes, a Toronto Pool pass and a framed print by Dave Barnhouse
"We thought having a dinner/auction would be a great way to raise money for new band uniforms," Taggart continued. "Cash and credit cards will be accepted for auction purchases. It will cost approximately $40,000 to purchase new uniforms for the band. Each uniform cost about $400."
Taggart said band members are grateful for the supports they've received from the community.
"Our band has been fortunate to have so many generous supporters," Taggart continued. "There are many businesses, organizations and individuals who have donated items for our auction. We have some very unique auctions items, including being honorary grand marshal for the Toronto Christmas Parade, a ride to school by a Toronto Police officer and a tailgate performance by the Toronto High School Marching Band."
Taggart said all are invited to attend and help raise funds for the district bands.
"We hope everyone comes for a wonderful evening of fun, food and bidding," she said. "This is a great opportunity to take care of some Christmas shopping."
