Weirton cleanup week concludes
WEIRTON - Public Works Director John Brown reports an incident free cleanup week in Weirton.
While it's far too soon to say how many trips were involved or how much refuse was collected, Brown said there were "no incidents with trucks or drivers."
"We were accident free," he said, adding that his crews "picked up a lot of stuff, a lot of material."
"There was a lot of electronics - a lot of TVs and a lot of computers, that kind of thing," he said. "We took it all."
To pull it off required the use of three rental sanitation trucks and drivers, plus the sanitation department's own trucks. "The entire public works was involved in this," he added. "Our street crews and office staff, everybody was taking calls and communicating with the people out on the road."
