To the editor:
The Island Creek Township board of trustees - Bryan Marcino, Sam Grafton and Mark Clark - would like to thank members of the community for their involvement in our last clean-up, held Sept. 14-15 at the Island Creek Township Garage.
With the help of a grant obtained from the JB Green Team, we were able to hold the two-day event and accept approximately 47 tons of miscellaneous household objects, small appliances and other unwanted materials. We also recycled any metal we received to help defray the cost of the event.
This year, we also collected donations for the Coats for Kids project and will present officials with a check for more than $1,000.
We hope to be able to continue this community outreach in the future, as we feel that little by little we are helping with the illegal dumping alongside our roads.
We also would like to thank the principal at Pleasant Hill Elementary School, Chris Dopp, for involving the school and also for helping out at the event, along with our employees and family members.
Let's keep up the good work of cleaning up our township.
