STEUBENVILLE - Shane Young, 32, of Steubenville was sentenced to four years in prison on Monday by Jefferson County Common Pleas Judge David Henderson after Young admitted to two counts of robbery and one count of burglary.

Young admitted to robbing Dollar General on Hollywood Boulevard and the University Boulevard BP gas station on July 27 within 45 minutes.

The clerk at the University Boulevard BP said the robber attempted to purchase a drink but his credit card wasn't accepted. The robber came around the counter and pushed the clerk against the wall and demanded money, the clerk said. The clerk said she was able to run out of the gas station.

Young denied he pushed the clerk during his sentencing on Monday.

The robber went to the counter at Dollar General and attempted to make a purchase but his credit card wasn't accepted, police reported. When the man's credit card was rejected, he told the clerk he had a gun and to open the cash register.

The man reached into the register and grabbed cash, police reported.

Young was a suspect from the beginning of the investigation after his wallet was found in the Dollar General parking lot, police reported.

Young also pleaded guilty to a burglary on July 14 at a home in the 1400 block of Ridge Avenue.

Also, Laura L. Wade, 22, of 733 Kendall Ave. was placed on two years of probation by Henderson after Wade pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine.

Wade was arrested after a City Police traffic stop at South Fourth and Adams streets on April 12, and she had marijuana and crack cocaine in her clothing.
