To the editor:
The United States is now more than $16 trillion (with a capital T) in debt. The government is still wanting to help other countries by giving them money. What money would that be exactly? The last time I checked debt meant no money to spare. Debt meant that you were living beyond your means. Debt meant that you have borrowed, not saved. Now, if I can understand what the term debt means, why doesn't our president or those in Washington. I know that it takes money to make money, but don't we owe China and others enough.
Put down the government checkbook and learn this simple math lesson 0+0 = 0
There is an old saying, "charity starts at home."
Maybe President Barack Obama would consider putting the enormous amount of campaign contributions that have been raised to get him re-elected toward lowering the debt.
Maybe Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan would consider the same, as could all the millionaires and billionaires in this country, who feel the president is right and the rich are not paying their fair share in taxes, by opening up their checkbooks without being told to do so and give more to Uncle Sam at tax time.
Until then please close the bank of North America, at least until you have more deposits than withdrawals.
