The Adena Lions Club is holding a golf scramble, one they hope will continue through the years, at Castle Shannon Golf Course on Sept. 22. The project was discussed at the Aug. 1 business meeting where Darrin Young presided.

The cost for participating in the scramble is $50 per person or $200 per team. There will be a steak dinner and prizes for longest drive, closest to the pin and longest putt. The cost is $5 per man skins game. First place is $500, and second place is $200. There will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The first zone meeting was held Aug. 22 at Mehlman's Restaurant. in St. Clairsville.
Individuals with a flag that needs disposed can bring it to the Lions Club room. They will be burned at a later date. Harrisville is in need of 25 new flags and Adena is in need of 16, it was noted.
The Lions Club flags were erected at the corners of the Village Town Square for Heritage Days and will be flown on holidays. Members rode in a float for the parade.
A donation was approved for the Buckeye Local Cross Country team.
Ron Malin was appointed lion tamer to fill the vacancy created by the death of Theo Kanoski.
The club is sponsoring its annual Urban Mission clothing project, collecting gently used coats, shoes, clothing, gloves and scarves for children.
