The Greater Zion Temple Pentecostal Church will be hosting a monthlong pastoral anniversary with special events.
The church will host a month of services to honor the 27th pastoral anniversary of Suffragan Bishop Roy C. Dawkins.
All services and events will be held at Greater Zion, which is located at 300 N. Fifth St., Steubenville.
The kickoff begins today with an anniversary community choir concert at 7 p.m. with Jeanniee Barrett as guest director.
Also planned are:
Sept. 8: A men's fashion show at 6:30 p.m. featuring the men of Greater Zion Temple and the community. The cost is $12.
Sept. 13-14: A two-day revival features services both days at 7 p.m. with Pastor Michael H. Harrison Sr. of Union Baptist Church in Youngstown.
Sept. 23: A soul food dinner sale will be held immediately following the service with patrons able to dine in or get takeout.
Sept. 30: An anniversary worship celebration at 10:30 a.m. will feature evangelist Valerie Curtis of Atlanta.
Dawkins received his bachelor of theology and religious education degrees in 1981 in Nashville and his master's degrees in theology and religious education in 1997. In August 2005, he received his bachelor of arts in pastoral ministry, then his doctor of divinity from Aenon Bible College in Indianapolis that October.
Dawkins was consecrated as Suffragan Bishop in the Ohio District Council on July 4, 2002. He is the chairman of the Ohio District Council of Pentecostal Church Inc. As Suffragan Bishop, he serves the 14 churches in the Southeast Region of the Ohio District Council of Pentecostal Churches Inc.
He is a member of Aenon Bible College Board of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World and is the liaision for the Ministers' Wives and Widows Alliance of the Ohio District Council.
He and his wife, Charlene, the music ministry leader, the women ministry leader and director of Vacation Bible School, have two sons, Anson and Eric, international gospel recording artists known as Dawkins and Dawkins, and a daughter, Angela Bryant.
Five grandchildren complete the family.
