The GFWC, Ohio Woman's Club of Steubenville will launch the new club season Sept. 6 as it initiates a new calendar agenda for the organization.
The group will convene monthly September through June with no session in January and February.
The opening luncheon will be at 1 p.m. at the Steubenville Country Club. Kathy Mills will begin her second two-year term as club president. The meeting is being held on Thursday because of the Labor Day holiday. The other meetings fall on the first Monday of the month.
Eileen Krupinski, vice president and program chairman, has announced that John Holmes, a professor at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, will be the guest speaker. Known for his portrayal of Baron Von Steuben, Holmes will present "Remembering Steubenville.
Donna Keagler and Jan Glaub Rainbolt will be hostesses.
At the Oct. 1 meeting, the featured speaker will be the Rev. Richard Davis, vice president of community relations at the Franciscan University of Steubenville.
The work of the JB Green Team will be overviewed by Louise Holliday, educational coordinator for the environmental organization, at the Nov. 5 meeting.
Entertainment by the Steubenville High School Chorus, directed by Scott Wolodkin, is planned for the holiday season meeting on Dec. 3.
Following the two-month winter hiatus, meetings will resume March 4 as Lauren Costello and Michael Gromczewski, teachers at the School of Bright Promise, will speak on the education of children with disabilities.
Flora Ver Straten, president of the Jefferson County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society, will guide members on "Finding Our Roots" at the April 1 meeting.
"Fire Safety" will be the May 6 program topic. Gray Nagy of the Steubenville Fire Department will be the speaker.
Concluding the season on June 3, Marjean Sizemore, Southeast District president of the OFWC, will address the local membership.
