To the editor:
I would like to congratulate all the 4-H kids of Jefferson County on a job well done at the Jefferson County Fair. Their knowledge and dedication to their respective projects were amazing.
Now, onto the fair itself. The fair without these 4-H kids would not exist. The limited port-a-potties as well as the midway was inexcusably poor. I understand that we all are having tough times, but these things should not be where the fair board cuts cost. The fair is dying, and without 4-H kids and their parents, the fair would be gone. Yes, the mud bogs, truck pulls and demolition derby bring in people on those respective days, but only on those days of operation, not for the week.
The fair board needs to realize that without 4-H kids and their parents, there is no fair.
