Red Riders top Red Knights
TORONTO - Toronto's John-Mike Romey was the medalist with a 44 Wednesday, but the Weir High golf team defeated the host Red Knights, 200-216, at Dyer Country Club.
For the Red Riders, Zach Midcap shot 45, Vince Gaudio 47 and Tyler Warwick and Chris Presutti each totaled a 54.
Brad Melville had a 53, Ben Hlivko a 59 and Nick Ighnat a 60 for Toronto.
Crusaders garner wins
STEUBENVILLE - Austin Meronoff and Mike Manfresca were co-medalists on Wednesday at Steubenville Country Club as the Catholic Central golf team shot 175 to beat Steubenville (192) and Buckeye Local (199).
Nick Ivkovich carded a 46 and Jason Bensur a 47 to round out the Crusaders' soring.
Kasey Peterson led Big Red with his 42. Jacob McKitrick and Andrew O'Dell shot 47 each and Mason Heatherington had a 56,
For Buckeye Local, Clint Henry led the way with a 46. Ricky Sempkowski and Kyle Sutphin each shot 47 and Bo Walker had a 59.
Blue Devils shoot well
HOOKSTOWN - The Burgettstown golf team opened the season the right way, with a 189-225 victory over McGuffey High School. Medalist Owen Miller firing a two-under par 33 at Ponderosa Golf Course.
Drake Hoberek carded a 36, Luc Biongiorni a 39, Paul Lecker a 40 and Cody Dobbin 41 for the Blue Devils.
Bears announce ticket prices
NEW MANCHESTER - Oak Glen High School announced ticket prices for the school year have increased by $1. All varsity events will be $6 for adults and $4 for students with the exception of varsity football where all tickets are $6 at the gate.
Student passes are on sale at the high school main office at $30 and covers admission to all regular season (excludes OVAC or WVSSAC tournament games.) A new 10-game ticket plan has been introduced. For a cost of $50, one may purchase a 10-game ticket plan good for general admission to any Oak Glen sporting event for the school year (excludes OVAC and WVSSAC tournament games) which saves the purchaser $10.
Also, a Gold Rush is planned for Oak Glen's first home football game at the new stadium, Aug. 31 against Wellsville. The first 200 fans to enter the stadium wearing a gold Oak Glen shirt will receive a commemorative Bearable Towel, which will also be available for purchase at the game.
This season's gold shirts can be purchased at the New Cumberland Pharmacy or Chester's Citizen Drug Store before the game or at the shirt shack the day of the game for $10.

RAYLAND - The Buckeye Local school district will have its final flag football sign-ups from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the high school.
