STEUBENVILLE - Kevin S. Steigerwald, 21, was sentenced to two years in prison on Tuesday by Jefferson County Common Pleas Judge David Henderson after Steigerwald again violated his probation.

Steigerwald pleaded guilty to theft and burglary. Mingo Junction Police reported Steigerwald entered a home on Lincoln Avenue on Feb. 12, 2009, and stole items, including an electronic gaming machine and a laptop computer.

Steigerwald was sentenced in October 2009 to three years of probation. The county prosecutor's office filed a motion to have his probation revoked three months later because he failed to report to his probation officer. He then was sentenced to six months in the Eastern Ohio Correction Center, followed by two years of probation.

Steigerwald served his time at the Eastern Ohio Correction Center but the prosecutor's office in October 2010 filed another motion to have his probation revoked because he failed to report to his probation officer. He admitted in court that he moved near Cleveland and was working. He said he decided to turn himself in a couple weeks ago, saying he was tired of running.

Also, Steven L. Hill, 20, of 105 Montwell Drive, Mingo Junction, pleaded guilty before Henderson to aggravated assault involving an incident in which he admitted to stabbing his uncle.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department reported the altercation between Hill, and his uncle, Donnie Morris, 35, also of 105 Montwell Drive, Mingo Junction, began after Hill broke a switch to an ignition of a recreational vehicle on July 26.

Morris grabbed Hill by the head and Hill dared Morris to do it again, a deputy reported. Morris then kicked Hill in the head, the sheriff's department reported. Hill pulled out a pocketknife and stabbed Morris three times, a deputy reported.

Morris was taken by friends and family to Trinity Medical Center West, where he was interviewed by the sheriff's department. Deputies went to the home on Montwell Drive and arrested Hill.

Henderson ordered a presentence investigation and an Eastern Ohio Correction Center evaluation.
