BUTCHER, Frances Joan, 83, of Weirton, WV, passed away Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at the Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, OH.
She was born Aug. 1, 1929, in Red Lodge, Montana, the daughter of the late Pete E. Buffo Sr. and Mary C. Echelle Buffo.
Frances was a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church, Weirtonian Lodge 183. She was a graduate of New Cumberland High School. She was a former employee of Starvaggi Industries Inc. Frances enjoyed reading, flower gardening, traveling to eighty countries, doing for others, and her church.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clayton William Butcher who passed away March 11, 2004; son-in-law, Curt Johnson; brother, Pete Edward Buffo Jr.; niece, Wilma Jean McConnell.
Surviving are her daughter, Sandra B. Johnson of Bassett, VA; son, Glenn B. Butcher of Weirton, WV; sister-in-law, JoAnn Buffo of Weirton, WV; sister, Kathryn Hudson of Antlers, OK, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be at the Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV, Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Additional visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christ United Methodist Church, 3598 Pennsylvania Avenue, Weirton, WV, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Julia Neal, Alan Neal, and Michaela Jasper will preside. Burial will follow at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Paris, PA.
