The Women of Second Baptist Church, 717 Adams St., Steubenville, will celebrate their annual day Aug. 26, culminating a three-day weekend of activities.
The Waves of Glory flag ministry will celebrate its fourth anniversary at 6 p.m. Aug. 24 at the church with Charlene Dawkins of Zion Temple Pentecostal Church as the speaker.
The flag ministry includes chairman Terrie Dixon, Melody Walton, Pam Ingram, Karen Solomon, Alice Lawson, Jocelyn Watkins, Patricia Herring, Marlene Ray, Gail Johnson, Peggy Ingram, Diane Benjamin, Sharol Fields and Charymane Morgan.
The Waves of Glory flag ministry of Second Baptist Church will mark its fourth anniversary and kick off a three-day annual women’s ministry celebration that begins at 6 p.m. Aug. 24 at the church located at 717 Adams St., Steubenville. At Greater Zion Temple Church, Dawkins, the wife of Bishop Roy C. Dawkins, serves as women's ministry leader, minister of music and organist. she has ministered in song in Brazil and throughout the United States at services, assemblies and conventions. She is a musician to the Southeast ODC Region and the Ohio District Council of Pentecostal Churches Inc. of the P.A. of W.
The C.J. Vinson brunch will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 25 at the church where the speakers will be Cynthia Willis and Kim Fletcher. Event chairpersons are Louis Reeves, Carolyn Simmons and Herring.
The annual service begins Aug. 26 with Sunday School. Teachers will include Sara Dudley, Carlotta Williams, Jackie Platt, Mary Underwood, Mary Wade, Rhonda Parrish and Juanita Slappy. Cynthia Macon and Leta Ann Motley will chair the young adult service at 10:30 a.m.
Reeves will be the presiding officer for the 11 a.m. service where the Waves of Glory flag ministry will present selections.
Other service participants will include Ernestine Lee, Ruth Johnson, Diane Benjamin, Melody Walton, Trina Lawson, Donna Terry, Alice Lawson, June Beal, Carolyn Simmons, Rhonda Parrish, Peggy Ingram, Terrie Dixon, Gail Johnson, Carol Gregory, Connie Vinson, Aletha Monroe, Laura Clausell and Leonette Murray.
The Rev. Mary Burton of Monacco, Pa., will be the speaker. Vivian McLoyd, wife of Second Baptist pastor the Rev. Calvin McLoyd Jr., will offer special remarks.
Music will be presented by the Women's Day Choir directed by Rhonda Parrish with Ernestine Lee and Calvin Wicker as the musicians.
Peggy Ingram serves as chairman, and Connie Vinson is president of the Women's Ministry.
