Madonna wins tournament
WEIRTON - The Weirton Madonna golf team shot 319, behind the 74 of medalist Mike Rogers, to win the West Virginia Catholic Tournament Saturday at Williams Country Club.
The Blue Dons were followed by Charleston Catholic (331), Madonna B (357), Wheeling Central (357), Notre Dame (373) and Bishop Donahue (410).
Nick Mazur shot 78, Thomas Gianni 79 and Alex Colantonio and Matthew Lyons 88 for Madonna. Anthony Basil led the Blue Dons B team with an 86. Dominic Silvestri shot 92, Sam Licata 93 and Alan Alimario 96.
The all-tournament team was Rogers, Charleston Catholic's Christian Casingal and Aaron Persily and Madonna's Mazur and Gianni.
Golf scramble to be held
WEIRTON - The ninth-annual Weirton Boys and Girls Club Golf Scramble will be held Sept. 2 at Mountaineer Woodview Golf Course and will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun. The team handicap must exceed 30 with only one member of the team with a six handicap or less.
The cost is $240 per foursome, will be open to the first 30 paid teams. It is being sponosred by Mountaineer Casino. Racetrack and Resort.

Bears to hold meet the team
NEW MANCHESTER - The Oak Glen Meet the Teams will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesdat as the Field of Dreams baseball complex. All high school and middle school fall sports teams will be introduced.
Alumni band to march
RAYLAND - The Buckeye Local School District Alumni Band will march with the Panther Band at the home football game on Sept. 1. All band alumni (including all consolidated schools) are invited to participate.
