Army Reserve Capt. Veronica Bell turned over command of the Army Reserve’s 336th Engineering Company to Chief Warrant Officer Benjamin Spiker in a ceremony presided by Lt. Col. Kent Lightner and involving 1st Sgt. James Keane Saturday at the Weirton Steel Veterans Memorial near Three Springs Drive. Clockwise from left are Bell, Lightner, Spiker and Keane. The company’s first female commander, Bell will serve next as a training instructor at Fort Knox, Kentucky. It’s the first command for Spiker, a Zanesville, Ohio area native who served as a platoon leader for the company for three years and has been an Army Reservist for 14 years. He and his wife of 12 years have three children.
