Brooke claims tri-match
WELLSBURG - The Brooke golf team defeated Wheeling Central and Linsly in a tri-match Wednesday at Highland Springs Golf Course.
The Bruins shot a team score of 319 and were paced by medalist Logan Lojszczyk's 77. Cody Dodd shot 78 with Brice Hickey and Austin Schambach each netting an 82 to round out Brooke's scoring.
For the Maroon Knights (337) Justin Leonard shot an 80, Thomas Stanley an 84, Sean McFarland an 86 and John Haley an 87.
The Cadets (340) saw David Coram shoot a 78, Casey O'Korn an 81, Jordan Patrick an 84 and Nicole Gray a 97.
Volleyball tryouts for WMS
WEIRTON - Weirton Middle School is holding seventh and eighth grade girls volleyball tryouts Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the middle school gymnasium.
A completed physical is required in order to try out.
Cooper records an ace
CHESTER - Kelly Cooper recorded a hole-in-one at Mountaineer Woodview Golf Course. Cooper used a 6-iron on the 135-yard 17th hole. The shot was witnessed by Tom Smarrella, Dave Collopy and Jerry Robinson.
