Mingo Knights

install officers

The Mingo Knights of Columbus Council 4361 installed officers for 2012-13 during ceremonies conducted July 12 at the knights hall with District Deputy No. 49 Erol Hosdil officiating.

Installed were: grand knight, Shawn Zarych; deputy grand knight, Guido Evangelista; chancellor, Richard Herrick; financial secretary, John Daley; treasurer, Francis DiLoreto; recorder, Jim Raymond; advocate, Mike Potenzini; warden, Matt Hedmond; inside guard, Keith Crispino; outside guard, Lou Kakascik; and trustees, Evangelista, Frank DiGeorge and Baci Carpico.

Commission to meet Wednesday

The regular monthly meeting of the Jefferson County Veterans Service Commission will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the War Memorial Building, 423 North St., Steubenville. All veterans or interested parties are welcome to attend.

BV Residents

to hear Looman

The Buena Vista Residents group will welcome Ed Looman of Progress Alliance as its guest speaker at the Wednesday meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Buena Vista UMC.

"Death by Chocolate" will be the food theme with participants asked to bring a favorite chocolate dessert.

The monthly recycling pickup will be conducted Thursday. Residents are reminded that items should be placed at curbside by noon on those days for pickup by volunteers between noon and 4 p.m. Plastics and cans can be combined, but paper and plastic should not be mixed. Paper should be bundled in paper bags or cardboard. The pickup is not for glass or Styrofoam.

Also coming up:

The annual bonfire will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 14 in the upper level of Jim Wood Park with hot dogs and drinks provided. There will be hay rides and the largest pumpkin contest with residents asked to bring a favorite pumpkin dessert. Rain date is Oct. 21.

Four Seasons

updated on trips

The Four Seasons Senior Citizens Association met July 18 at the Serbian American Cultural Center in Weirton where Angela Gillette, first vice president, presided.

Chaplain Mary Rose Spano gave the invocation. Vocalist Paul Grant entertained with musical selections.

Reservation chairman Josie Cekinovich reported 103 reservations. Marge Trinone reported on cards sent.

Membership chairman Ruth Ladomersky reported a total of 168 members.

The tour director announced a new trip to the QueCreek Memorial and Letterman concert on Oct. 20. She also reviewed the following upcoming trips:

-- Sept. 7, Hartville, Ohio;

-- Sept. 23-29, Cape Cod; and

-- Nov. 7-8, "Jonah" and "Church Basement Ladies 2," Lancaster, Pa.

Barbara Cerra was awarded the free dinner from the club. Winners of the 50/50 drawing were Mary Lu Deku and Margy Burskey. Dorothy Blankenship, Marie Scarfo, Nancy Fridley, Irene Rupani, Tom Maxwell and Jasper Wamsley won door prizes.

The next meeting will be held Aug. 15.
