Setting the pace

The United Way of Jefferson County kicked off its 2013 Pacesetter campaign, which will continue until Aug. 31 as part of the annual fundraising effort. Several of the 2013 Pacesetters met Friday to discuss their workplace campaigns. Taking part in the session were, seated from left, Julia Kireta of FirstEnergy; Steve Petrella of the Riesbeck’s stores; Jeff Saunders, American Electric Power Co. Cardinal Plant; and Carol Bonar of Trinity Health System: and standing, Nancy Jo Grim, executive director of the United Way of Jefferson County; Ryan Vittek of FirstEnergy; John Ratti of State Farm Insurance; Chris Elliot of Apollo Professional Cleaning; Anthony Mougianis of Apollo Professional Cleaning and chairman of the 2013 United Way of Jefferson County campaign; Audie Burge, president of the Utility Workers Union of America Local 478 Cardinal Plant; Justin Nicholson, manager of the Steubenville Wal-Mart store; City Manager Cathy Davison representing city workers; and Ross Gallabrese, executive editor of the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times and president of the United Way of Jefferson County board of directors. Grim said the Pacesetters set the pace for all local workplaces for this year’s campaign. She also said Pacesetters will be recognized at the United Way of Jefferson County’s annual recognition dinner at the conclusion of the 2013 campaign. -- Dave Gossett
