Free concert for

teens, young adults

Billy Wayne and Tattered Saints will be performing a free concert for teens and young adults at 7 p.m. Aug. 17.

The concert will be held in the gymnasium of Wintersville Elementary School, 100 Park Drive, Wintersville, and is being sponsored by the Wintersville Church of the Nazarene.

A free will offering will be taken.

Billy Wayne is a contemporary Christian singer, speaker and author who has traveled throughout the United States and Mexico, "bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ to the broken and hurting, having come from a childhood filled with pain," according to a press release.

Area pastors and youth group leaders are encouraged to attend to help minister to the area youth.

Bible course

The Wellsburg Church of Christ, 92 Rose Cottage Lane, Wellsburg, is sponsoring an ongoing free Bible correspondence course as an outreach for anyone interested.

Bus available

for concert

Mount Zion Baptist Church at 221 N. Seventh St., Steubenville, is sponsoring a bus to a concert performed by The King's Men on Oct. 9 in Cleveland.

The cost is $82 which includes bus transportation and "concert tickets with great seats." The bus will leave the church parking lot at 3 p.m. for the concert that begins at 7:30 p.m.

To reserve a bus seat and concert ticket requires payment due by Sept. 8.

Church holding corn festival

The Christ United Methodist Church, Weirton, will hold its sixth- annual corn festival from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 12 at the church located at 3598 Pennsylvania Ave. on Weirton Heights.

The event will include food and entertainment, and those attending should bring a lawn chair.

Fresh-picked, all-you-can-eat corn on the cob, pulled pork, barbeque chicken, coleslaw, baked beans, dessert and beverages will be available.

The cost is $9 for adults, $5 for children under 12 and free for children 5 and under.


Brilliant Community Vacation Bible School will be held from 5:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Brilliant Christian Church, 323 High St., Brilliant.

It is open to all children in preschool (4 years and older if potty trained) up to those entering the sixth grade.

The VBS sponsors are the Brilliant Christian Church, Brilliant United Methodist Church and the Brilliant First United Presbyterian Church.

This year's theme is "Sky: Everything Is Possible with God." It will feature Bible lessons, music, arts and crafts, recreation and refreshments.

A registration and code of conduct form must be completed in registering for the event beginning at 5:45 p.m. Monday.
