To the editor:
Thank you to all the volunteers who gave their time for Mingo Revitalization Committee's clean-up days. The many volunteers picked up litter, weeded and swept. As in many communities, we have experienced unfortunate financial situations that have created cuts. Our service department has done a fine job despite the cuts, and we were so happy to support their efforts.
Our poor economy has also resulted in the loss of several businesses. It can be easy to become negative and lose sight of the wonderful establishments still active and present in the community. If we don't support them, we really will have nothing in Mingo. Pesta's Country Market is a jewel offering everything from fresh meats to home decor. The owner, Barb Cook, knows everyone who walks through her door. And if by some chance you were a stranger upon entering, you will not be by the time you leave.
The owners of Mingo Pharmacy are eager to assist their patrons with their patience and friendliness. Several others include Mingo Auto Parts, Mingo Diner, Christina DiCarlo Photography and Clippendales. We need to support our own businesses in our community to grow and prosper.
