To the editor:
We have an important job that our softball parents at Buckeye Local High School need to help us with.
Joe Soos was our high school softball coach last year. He did an excellent job with the high school team, not only winning games, but challenging the girls to give everything they had in every game. You would expect that from any coach, but Joe took it a step further. He also met with junior high and summer league coaches to make sure that his future ball players were getting the proper coaching and that they were learning what is expected of them when they get to the next level. He also came to many of their games checking on their improvement. He asked questions about the players, showing that he was interested in the players themselves rather than just his won/loss record as so many other coaches are.
Soos invested as much time checking on the younger players as he did with his high school team, and now Buckeye wants to replace him. We are asking all parents to call the board members and help us keep Soos as the Panther head coach. Let them know that we support Joe and his positive coaching attitude. Don't wait until it's too late - call now before the board makes a huge mistake. Our girls deserve the best.
He was Ohio Valley Athletic Conference co-coach of the year, had three girls make the all-OVAC team, coached the team to the OVAC AAAA championship and finished with a 19-7 record. Please come on down to the board meeting Monday night and support our coach.
