STEWART, David C., 85, of Market Street, Yorkville, OH, formerly of Smithfield, OH, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, OH.
He was born Aug. 6, 1926, in Flushing, OH, the son of the late Tillison and Thelma West Stewart.
He retired after 38 years of employment at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Mingo Junction Plant in the blast furnace department.
He attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Bridgeport, OH, and enjoyed gardening and wrestling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Smith Stewart; a daughter, Diane Freeman; a step-son, Charles "Sunny" Branson; a grandson, Phillip Chase; and a sister, Delores Smith.
Surviving are his loving wife of 34 years, Roberta Jackson Stewart; a son, David Stewart Jr. of Montgomery, Ala.; two daughters, Cindy (Wayne) Chase of St. Clairsville, OH, and Karen Rafferty of Mexico City, Mexico; two sisters, Meredith (Wilbur "Jack") Carr of Springfield, OH, and Eldora (Louis) Simpson of Mingo Junction, OH; three grandchildren, Tyrone, Gina and Monica; a great-grandson, Tyrell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received to pay tribute to David and celebrate his life on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville. Funeral service Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Myron Seals officiating.
Burial will take place in Northern Cemetery, Smithfield, Ohio.
