TORONTO - The former classes of Toronto High School - the Class of 1962 and the Class of 1967 - are planning to celebrate the high school's legacy by hosting a joint class reunion set for Aug. 18 at the school.
The classes will be celebrating the legacy of the current high school building, which will be replaced by a new building housing grades sixth through 12 at the end of the coming school year. Co-organizers Nikki Cable, Class of 1962, and Faye Firm, Class of 1967, said the event will include tours of the building, lunch, dancing and nostalgia.
"The classes of '62 and '67 are having a joint reunion in the Toronto High School cafeteria and gymnasium from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 18," said Cable. "This was (city school district Superintendent) Fred Burns' idea. He wanted to have it here because there's never been a reunion here. This is the last year for the high school."

Cable said the idea is to replicate a typical day for former students at the high school.
"There will be lunch in the cafeteria and dancing in the gym," Cable continued. "This will be the final chance for those classes to see the building before it disappears. It's going to be nostalgic."
"The Class of '67 is going to have a mixer at 7 p.m. Aug. 17 at Margaret's Cafe," said Firm, adding Toronto residents are most welcome. "On Aug. 19 (the Class of '67) will be meeting at 2 p.m. at the shelterhouse. We did graduate together with Fred Burns. This will be our last get-together. I do hope the Toronto (residents of the classes) come."
"Our Class of '62 will have a get-together at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 17 at Froehlich's Classic Corner, 501 Washington St., Steubenville," said Cable, adding other activities are pending.
Both said they would prefer reservations be made by Wednesday. For reservations, call (740) 537-2456, extension 210.
