Questions from Georges Run

July 15, 2012
The Herald-Star

To the editor:

I have lived in Georges Run for more than five years, and my water bill has never exceeded $100 for three months.

Mingo Junction says our water bill was going to increase by around 15 percent. I just received my new bill and it has increased by more than 200 percent. I feel like we are paying this because the city is digging for money anywhere it can. We have lost most of our police department, but the village can afford to install a $300,000 splash pad at the pool. Why do we have to pay for the city's mistakes and financial deficit?

Many questions arise from this increase, but no one has any answers. My bill went from an average of $80 every three months to this bill of $211. Inside the village limit, garbage collection and sewage is included in the bill. I am just outside the village limits, so I get none of the services except water.

Again, I don't understand why my bill has increased by so much. Please look into this because there are so many in Georges Run who don't understand why.
