"We will have food, fun and intelligent conversation," promised Wilson.

Democrats' dinner

to be rescheduled

CHARLESTON - The West Virginia Democratic Party has announced its annual fundraiser, the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, planned for Aug. 11, will be rescheduled in response to the storms that have caused widespread damage in much of the state.

"Most West Virginians were affected by these devastating storms," West Virginia Democratic Party Chairman Larry Puccio said. "I don't feel that it is appropriate at this time to host a fundraising dinner when many people have to run generators, restock their refrigerators or repair their homes and businesses. We were excited for our annual J.J. Dinner, and we will work to reschedule it and our guest speaker former U.S. Rep. Dick Gephardt later this fall."

The party will offer a full refund for pre-purchased tickets and encourages individuals to send monetary donations to the Volunteer West Virginia Food Drive, 710 Central Ave. Charleston, WV 25302.

E. coli outbreak after picnic now at 55

GERMANTOWN - Health officials investigating an E. coli outbreak among people who ate at a southwest Ohio picnic say they've identified more cases, bringing the total to 55. The bacteria can cause diarrhea, dehydration and, in severe cases, kidney failure.
