STEUBENVILLE - Steubenville Legion Post 33 defeated Tuscarawas County, 11-6, Sunday in a nine-inning affair at Vaccaro Field. That win came on the heels of Saturday's doubleheader sweep over visiting Morgantown, 5-1 and 7-6.
Jimmy Panella knocked in four runs and earned the win on the mound Sunday. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the fifth inning. Panella struck out nine, walked one and gave up 14 hits.
In the top of the first, Tuscarawus County grabbed the early lead, 2-0. Mason Mamarella singled to ignite Tuscarawus County's offense. A double by Brandon Bertz then moved Mamarella from first to third. Ryan Froman doubled, scoring Mamarella. The scoreboard lit up again for Tuscarawus County when Bertz scored on an RBI single by Zane Shuss.
Post 33 scored two runs in the first on an RBI single by Brenton Colabella and a groundout by Justin Corsi .
Steubenville never surrendered the lead after the fourth inning, scoring three runs on the two-run home run by Panella and a sacrifice fly by JoJo Pierro.
Tuscarawus County closed the deficit to 5-3 on an RBI double by Bertz.
Post 33 answered Tuscarawus County's top inning with four runs of its own in the fifth on two bases-loaded walks and Panella's two-run single.
On Saturday, Steubenville totaled four hits in the Game 1 win. Morgantown stranded 13 runners on base.
Brian Pierro racked up four RBIs on singles in the fourth and sixth innings.
JoJo Pierro was a workhorse on the bump while bagging the win for Post 33. Pierro pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, nine hits and no walks while striking out two.
Corsi went the distance in the Game 2 eight-inning win. He fanned seven, walked two and allowed two earned runs.
Alex Young had two extra-base hits for Post 33. He singled in the fourth inning, tripled in the fifth inning, and doubled in the seventh inning.

Toronto grabs two wins
TORONTO - Post 86 swept a doubleheader from visiting Kingsville, 7-6 and 8-3, Saturday at the Knight Baseball Complex.
Toronto scored three times in the bottom of the seventh inning for the Game 1 victory.
Spenser Sninchak earned the win on the mound with his walk-off single in the seventh. He struck out nine and walked two.
Vance Goddard added two singles and two RBIs and Jarin McIntosh a double, single and two RBIs.
Ralph King grabbed the Game 2 triumph. He fanned four and walked one.
Sninchak delivered a home run, single and two RBIs. Tyler Antinone added two singles and two RBIs, Chez Glenn a double, single and two RBIs, Tyler Owens a double and single and Nate Stewart a double.
