To the editor:
I am writing in regards to a letter published July 1 entitled, "Union Cemetery questions raised." I feel the management and staff of the cemetery were misrepresented.
As a former employee of Union Cemetery, I am well aware of the extensive land needed to be maintained. Imagine how long it would take to trim around every stone, while preparing several graves a week. On top of a heavy workload, the responsibility is put on a staff of five people. Like many other local entities, the economy has also been rough on the cemetery.
This group of fun-loving employees has an abundance of character and a strong work ethic. They take pride in the history of the cemetery and the great reputation to which they contribute. Let's not destroy it.
