Ralph Porter

PORTER, Ralph A., 98, three months short of his 99th birthday, formerly of Steubenville, Ohio, died at Aultman Compassionate Care Center in Canton, Ohio on July 3, 2012 after a short illness. He was born in Mingo Junction, Ohio on October 1, 1913 a son of the late Roy and Anna Porter.

He retired from Miners & Mechanics Bank in 1979. Ralph formerly worked for Railway Express and Weirton Steel. He was a member of LaBelle View Church of Christ for 74 years, Steubenville Rifle and Pistol Club (Life Member) and was a 32 degree Mason.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Wilma; brothers Floyd, Bill and Bob; sisters Hazel and Dorothy.

He was the much loved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Surviving are his sons Ralph (LaVonne) and Tom (Liberty); grandchildren Dean (Kim) Porter, Julie (Mike) Slifka and Angela Porter; great grandchildren Alex and Mitchell Slifka and Morgan and Christian Porter; sister-in-law Marge Porter; many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Shorac Funeral Home (formerly McClave Funeral Home), 611 N. Fourth St., Steubenville, Ohio on Saturday from 10 until time of services at 11 a.m. with Minster Tom Arehart officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to LaBelle View Church of Christ.
