CADIZ - The bad weather on Friday evening did minor damage to the Harrison County Fairgrounds, according to Steve Birney, outside concessions manager for the event that gets started officially Tuesday at 9 a.m.
He pointed out that the midway tent, utilized for Junior Fair Night, was damaged and the ceiling would have to be raised again for the 6 p.m. program to be held on Monday.
"Some of the trailers coming in to stay the week had their awnings ripped off, but most of the damage took place southeast of us, in downtown Cadiz. We were on the edge of the storm," Birney said.

"The attraction bringing in the biggest crowd is always the Saturday tractor pull. We have some locals, such as Richie Eberhart, who brings in a truck called "Get 'er done"; and Jeff and Brandy Burton of Carrollton.
Aside for the repairs needed on the midway tent, scheduled to see plenty of action with the junior fair king and queen crowning at 6 p.m. on Monday and all the local entertainment, the fair is ready to roll, according to Birney.
Entries in the seventh through 12th departments will be arriving between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, as well as hay and forage entries by 9 p.m.
