STEUBENVILLE - Jason P. Martin, 30, of 2836 Wilson Ave., Mingo Junction, was sentenced to five years in prison Friday by Jefferson County Common Pleas Judge Joseph Bruzzese Jr. after pleading guilty to a number of charges.
Martin had been indicted on eight counts of theft, three counts of burglary and single counts of attempted theft and resisting arrest.
The majority of the cases date back to August 2010, said Jefferson County Prosecutor Jane Hanlin. Martin was arrested and served time in West Virginia, she said. When he was released, he entered a garage in the 1900 block of Orchard Street on Feb. 25 and stole a car, Hanlin said. He was later arrested driving the vehicle.
Hanlin said a City Police detective connected Martin to the crimes committed in August 2010.
Martin was charged with breaking into a residence in the 300 block of Lovers Lane on Aug. 31, 2010, and taking jewelry, garage door opener, football tickets and other items; breaking into a residence in the 300 block of Bryden Road on Aug. 31, 2010, and taking cash, keys, credit card and other items and attempted to take a car; stole a purse from a church in Mingo Junction on Aug. 26, 2010, and resisted arrest; stole a Jeep Wrangler on Aug. 31, 2010; and broke into a home in the 300 block of Bryden Road on Aug. 31, 2010, and stole bottles of liquor.
