The George C. Smith Scholarship Committee is sponsoring a "Soul Food Smorgasbord" at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Holy Family Church Community Banquet Hall, 2608 Hollywood Blvd., Steubenville.
Scholarships will be award to Kayla Smith, Joe Ingram Jr., Malcolm Jackson and Davon Wicker along with a special contribution made to a book purchasing program to assist Eastern Gateway Community College students.
GCSSC is celebrating its 28th year of service to the Upper Ohio Valley community and has presented more than $80,000 in scholarships. Its founders to be honored are William Underwood, the Rev. Raymond Mason, Mary Lou Underwood, William Spinner, Margaret Kline, Delores Miller, Deacon Edward Mixon, Charles Hyman and Anna Lee. Princess Barnes and Del Rico Vinson were the first youth members. The MLK scholarships also will be presented.
