Jazz Ambassadors offer special show

June 27, 2012
The Herald-Star

The Tri-State Area's Fourth of July celebration will get off to an early start Thursday when the Jazz Ambassadors of the U.S. Army Field Band bring their unique sound to our area.

The sweet music of the Jazz Ambassadors will fill the Harv at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort in the free performance of the Freedom Concert, a Salute to Veterans, which is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Based in Washington, D.C., the group travels thousands of miles each year throughout the United States and around the world, helping to demonstrate that American citizens support the members of their armed forces and diplomatic efforts.

During their 90-minute performance, the Jazz Ambassadors will play traditional jazz music, patriotic selections and Big Band standards.

An important part of the performance will be the band's Armed Forces Salute, which will honor area veterans who are in attendance. The event will feature a local touch. The evening will open with a local color guard, the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group, and three area high school students - Steubenville High School's Francesca Torini and East Liverpool High School's Austin Wade and Nicholas Harris - will sit in the with the band.

The Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times are proud to be joining with Mountaineer , the (Lisbon) Morning Journal and the (East Liverpool) Review to present the performance.

It's a chance to enjoy an evening a great music, thank those who have served or who are serving and celebrate all that is good in America.
